Rules & Regulations for Zulu Parade

  • The Zulu Mardi Gras parade will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Mardi Gras morning at
    Jackson and So. Claiborne Avenues.
  • The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) and the Zulu Parade Officials and
    Marshal will control all parade activity.
  • All loading and boarding will take place at the Zulu designated staging site.
  • All riders must be fully masked (black face, white eye, white mouth, grass skirt
    etc.) upon boarding floats and cars.
  • While loading throws onto floats/cars, no trash will be thrown out at the
    staging site or enroute to Jackson and So. Claiborne Avenues.
  • THE THROWING OF COCONUTS DURING THE ZULU PARADE IS
    POSITIVELY FORBIDDEN.
  • Coconuts will only be given out HAND to HAND.
  • Coconuts will not be allowed on the upper decks of the floats in the Zulu parade. Any person caught with coconuts on the upper deck is subject to a $500 fine per coconut.
  • Smoking is not allowed while on the float.
    • It is unlawful to participate in the Zulu parade while intoxicated.
  • All riders will be required to sign insurance forms and hold harmless clauses
    prior to riding. The Parade Chairman will set a time deadline.
  • All non-Zulu Member riders will pay a rider’s fee as stipulated by the Zulu
    Board of Directors and the General Membership. (Including Associate Members,
    they will also pay the rider’s fee).
  • The minimum age of a person participating in the Zulu parade as a KREWE RIDER is 12 yrs. old
